96-Year-Old German Man Shoots Daughter for Refusing to Send Him to Nursing Home
selm, germany - A 96-year-old German man shot his daughter multiple times for trying to send him to a nursing home.
A 96-year-old German man shot his daughter multiple times because he did not want to be brought to a nursing home by her. The family drama unfolded in Selm, Germany, just north of Dortmund in North Rhine-Westphalia. The visually impaired man was supposed to move to a nursing home as per his daughter's decision, but he strongly disagreed.
Having difficulty moving around at home, the daughter wanted to place him in a nursing home. Angry Wilhelm S. awaited his daughter at home with a firearm, a Walther P38, and opened fire on her. The woman was hit in her hip and arm. The firearm had been legally owned by the man for eighty years. The daughter ran bleeding to the door, upon which the 96-year-old man fired once again. However, she managed to escape.
The public prosecutor has officially charged the senior citizen now. Following his apprehension by a special police unit, he was deemed criminally responsible. According to German media, there was 'no sign of dementia' observed in the man. S. is allowed to await further proceedings in freedom. He told the police that he was 'shooting by ear,' as he had learned during the war.
Neighbors are now taking care of the man. Reportedly, he is doing well under the circumstances and the daughters 'naturally' do not visit him anymore. The neighborhood occasionally does groceries for him.
