18-Month Prison Sentence Demanded for 'Holleeder's Frontman' for Money Laundering Red-Light District Buildings

amsterdam - The Public Prosecutor's Office demanded a sentence of eighteen months, of which six months conditionally, against 66-year-old Marcel Kaatee for money laundering of a number of buildings in Amsterdam's Red-Light District.

The prosecution believes that two criminal money flows were used to finance the five buildings. This includes the unrecovered part of the ransom from the Heineken kidnapping in 1983, which was later invested by kidnappers Holleeder and Cor van Hout in drug transports and then laundered in the purchase of real estate.

The prosecution wants the court to confiscate the buildings, as this would be the only way to remove them from criminal activities.
