US sanctions against Myanmar for human rights

The United States has issued new sanctions against four Myanmar soldiers and two infantry divisions of the Asian country army.

The measures have been issued by the US Treasury Department. Of the four individuals, the foreign assets are frozen and Americans and companies from the US are not allowed to do business with these people and the army divisions.

Almost 700,000 Rohingya fled Myanmar last year. Security forces from that country said they had started an operation against the Rohingya in response to attacks by insurgents of the group. The Rohingya ended up in camps in neighboring Bangladesh, where conditions were very bad.
