Locusts Plague in Bolivia

Huge quantities of grasshoppers feasting on the harvest in eastern Bolivia.

A week ago, appeared out of nowhere a large amount of grasshoppers near the city of Santa Cruz, in a region where many food and meat is produced. The insects feed there the maize and millet (grain with small grains) of the country. Authorities say the 1,000 hectares of farmland has been eaten bare in no time.

The most common method to drive the locusts and destroy is fumigate.
